Allowance Umunnakwe

 



Umunnakwe Promise Kevin Ogemdi (Allowance) is a son of a polygamous family of Chief Elias and late Mrs Mercy Umunnakwe, from Umuokwe Awo-Omamma in Oru-East LGA Imo State.

He is the only son of his mother and last son of his father, he was born in the year 1988, he attended his primary and secondary schools in Awo-Omamma and later moved to Okporo Technical secondary school where he obtained his west African Examination certificate (WAEC)  and later got admission into Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo where he obtained his National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND)  respectively in architectural engineering, after his education he did not have the opportunity to serve the country immediately due to the sluggish processing of the school result but later the results was processed and he had his NYSC ( National Youth Service Corp)  at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. At the completion of his education, Allowance became the first graduate of the  family. He is a renowned architect in Umuokwe Awo-Omamma.

Umunnakwe Promise Kevin is married with Children, his wife’s name is Udoka Umunnakwe the owner and manager of Mma-Bianca Computer institute.

His perseverance made him not to give in his music career, he had the dream and vision to become a musician but was discouraged by some friends and parents that made him went to school to study architecture, after graduation he still remained with his musical interests through the inspiration of late music legend Chief Edward Morocco Mmaduka. Allowance persisted to become an artist that he met Chief Douglas Olemeforo who helped him to start his music career which gave birth to his first album titled “Ana ezo ihe ọma ezo” which was dedicated to Nneoma Eugenia Olemeforo the mother of Chief Douglas Olemeforo on her Nneoma merit award.

After his first album, the Allowance continued in his music career and he has released so many tracks which includes Ugo, Dike, Jee chuba ego, Contact, No-stop Authority Okanumee and newly released track Akunaesiobike to mention but few. His great passion for his music career has taken him far in the sense that he is the first in high life music in Awo-Omamma, he has performed in my shows both at home, Lagos, and Anambra State to mention but few. 

He is a great motivator, inspirational speaker, he has prepared so many books which is yet to be dropped for the public consumption which I am fully a part of some of the books, like “distraction and Destiny” which he wrote and gave me for review and rewriting, we have did many works together which will be discussed some other time. Allowance is a socialite apart from his music career, he is a pioneer member and first president of Awo-Omamma Great Achievers, a member Awo-Omamma leaders of thought and other groups which promotes peace and success in the community.

Allowance Umunnakwe is my brother from different mother, we became friends not by chance but hardly do we know that we have some things in common which I will not like to discuss here for now, His father chief Elias Umunnakwe is my own father’s ( Mr Godfrey Uchem)  Godfather, Allowance was born on September 6th while I was born on 7th of October, he is a day older than me in the area of date and a month older than me in the area of month.

  2021 Annual cultural fiesta of St. Basil the great Parish Awo-Omamma. Awo-Omamma is one of the villages in Oru-East Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. It’s also under the Catholic diocese of Orlu, Imo State, in the Orlu Diocese St. Basil is under St. Theresa’s Pastoral region Uli Anambra State.
